2019 Ride 4 Recovery Fundraiser

CARE of Southeastern Michigan, a non-profit, 501(c) (3), human services organization that has served the community for forty years. Our mission is to strengthen resiliency in people and their communities through prevention, education, and services that improve the quality of life. Each year we impact the lives of over 40,000 people through our wide range of programs designed to address mental health, substance abuse, family crisis, parenting, and other community needs.

Similar to the rest of the nation, we lose far too many lives to opiate addiction in Southeast Michigan. Last year, we saw an 18% increase in the number of people we lost to drug and alcohol overdoses in the state of Michigan. To address this growing epidemic we expanded our peer recovery coach program to assist more individuals get connected to substance abuse treatment and maintain their journey to recovery. Our peer recovery coaches are now available at 3 local hospitals to assist individuals in the emergency department that are struggling with drug and alcohol abuse.  As we continue to develop  innovative ways to address the epidemic, we are planning to expand our new substance abuse treatment program and opening a new recovery community center.

Over the last year, we have also seen an increase in the need to better support parents with young families. Through a partnership with the United Way for Southeastern Michigan and the Corporation for National & Community Service we have expanded our home based parenting program that is designed to help improve self-sufficiency and ensure that parents have the resources they need to meet their children's needs. Over the next year, we are also planning on opening a parent resource center in Northeast Detroit.

All proceeds benefit CARE prevention programs, and CARE's continuing efforts to educate our communities on substance use disorders.
